Here’s an opportunity to join one of the North West’s leading Financial Planning firms. 

Smart Financial Planning is a highly regarded Lifestyle Financial Planning firm, led by the former Chairman of the Institute of Financial Planning in the North West and director, coach and mentor or the FP Training Academy, Steve Martin.  We are setting new standards of client care, with an insistence upon maintaining our position as a leading Financial Planning Firm in the region. We are looking for a Trainee Technical Adviser with similar aspirations. 

Our clients are successful, high net-worth individuals with complex affairs. They expect a service that is exemplary in every respect. Whether it be on the phone, in writing or face-to-face, you will naturally interact with our clients in a highly courteous, efficient and friendly way. You will respond briskly to technical queries and always aim to exceed expectations. Importantly, our clients value our attention to detail and our accuracy. You will be pleased to hear that we are meticulous in all we do as this is something you are passionate about too. 

You will already have some financial planning knowledge; more importantly you will have an appetite to learn more and to develop further. You will almost certainly be at graduate level or equivalent, be a fast learner and have the confidence to try new things. (If you have the hunger, we want to help you develop your skills.) You will be a good typist and have good IT skills (word, excel, outlook, power point) as our business utilises a wide range of computer based support. It is important that you are technically minded with good level of numeracy skills.

The position is a three-year training program covering: 

  • Year one – Financial Services and technical administration, meeting participation and completion of the Diploma in Financial Planning

  • Year two – Paraplanning and further technical administration, during which you will complete the Advance Diploma in Financial Planning

  • Year three – Advanced Technical Paraplanning as well as completing your Certified Financial Planning license

So, if you are the Trainee Technical Adviser we are looking for you will have the: 

  • Ability to understand complex technical solutions

  • Excellent adminstrative skills

  • Accuracy and a keen attention to detail

  • A good level of report writing skills

  • Good time management skills

  • Problem solving ability

  • Ability to anticipate colleagues’ and clients’ needs

  • Be comfortable conducting research

  • Excellent interpersonal and IT skills
